6 Police Officers attached to Governor Wike arrested for Professional Misconduct during Rivers Rerun Election

Six officers of the Nigerian Police attached to Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike have been arrested in relation to professional misconduct at last year's rerun election in the state.

The officers were identified as Ex-Insp. Eyong Victor, Ex-Sgt. Ogun I. Goodluck, Ex-Sgt. Peter Ekpo, Ex-Sgt. Tanko Akor, Ex-Sgt. Ezekiel Okpe and Ex-Sgt. Orji Nwoke.

A spokesman for the force, ‘DCP Don Awunah’ who presented the suspects to newsmen in Abuja revealed that the suspects had been found guilty and dismissed after proper investigations.

He said;

"In the course of discreet investigations into the above misconduct, the following personnel were found to have in total disrespect to orders and directives, compromised, engaged in unprofessional acts".

"They joined in storming the Port Harcourt City Council secretariat and prevented the movement of election results in Emouha polling unit to the appropriate collation center".

Don Awunah further stated that the IG of Police, Ibrahim Idris had established comprehensive measures to ensure officers complied with the strict professional rules.
